Ok, ok, sorry, it kind of caught me the wrong way at first and I was in a pissy mood. :)

You're right though, a lot of marketers artificially inflate the value of their products just b/c some people will pay it.

Case in point agreeing with you.

If you walk into Borders books and see a book, you typically expect to pay about $20 or so for it. It's physical, you can thumb through it, a publisher has gotten behind it and good money has been spent to get it into the stores.

However, most ebooks written by anonymous authors with no credentials, no investment from a third party publishing house and no ability to thumb thru it routinely price their products at $27, $37, $47, etc...several times more expensive than a physical counterpart and their usually less than 100 pages it seems.

The fact that people will pay more for an ebook with nothing but hype vs a real book still blows me away...but I secretly love it too.

I guess the difference is that physical books have a limited amount of space to actually SELL you on it. Versus a website gets to play up the hype.

But at least that creates an opportunity for the everyday guy to make a living off the buying habits of consumers who don't know/don't care about the difference. LOL

Just an observation

Brad,

You make some good points. I am actually a full time Internet Marketer so I don't think that or expect that all information should be free.

I do think people should offer some decent stuff for free (and many do) but some of the high priced stuff is just hype and the quality of the products are questionable.

Each to their own though, and thanks for dropping by.

Cheers

Tim

PS - I buy music from iTunes :)

Tim,
I'll agree there is a lot of overpriced stuff out there. But also vehemently disagree that all information should be free.

When that happens, the quality of the information goes to hell.

The fact that you CAN find a lot of useful information on the web about how to do internet marketing or many other things does not mean that smart, honest peopele who take the time to compile their knowledge and skillsets for others to benefit should have to do it for free.

When you remove the incentive for quality products, the people with the high level information keep it to themselves and make money off it instead of sharing it with the rest of the world.

They do deserve to be compensated whatever the market will bare.

With social media these days it's hard to put out crap and get away with it because your reputation will precede you.

But if you truly believe all the information should be free, you probably believe in income redistribution, communism, Obama-ism and have a hatred for hard working people who figure out how to make it in this world.

You're probably a prolific music pirate who would never pay for a song on itunes but would happily steal from other people's hard work as well. I mean if information should be free...why not entertainment too right?

Sorry to offend there, but it offends me anytime they say that people shouldn't have the right to market their information.

The answer is no...I do not sell "how to make money" or "internet marketing" related products. Purely niche products.

The bottomline is that BAD internet marketers won't last in this hyper-connected economy. If they can get suckers to drop 10k...more power to them. A fool and his money...

I dont think wt to right, but infact internet marketing is effective for the ppl really needy. Like i am in Pakistan and working a free lancer in software development/web development work, the thing is i have to trust some one to keep my earnings, keep busy like in our country we don't have much oppertunities for free lancers. But we should always remember that trust is the ultimate solution in internet marketing, by doing wrong you can not achieve trust. You may market product one time but ultimately marketer has to suffer.

Sorry I sent some that I intended to seen some where else. About marketers let's don't label them all, there are some like myself that just want to make a living. I'm sure you are doing the same thing. Some of the more experienced marketers are taking advantage of the less experienced marketers. I have found out that there is no level playing field. There are more lies and or lies. They want us to believe they after they just lied to your face. So of the programs I have purchased an laughs, but I didn't know that when I bough them, but after looking at what they were suppose to do you
had to laugh or cry because you were going to make any money with the program. I have learned to check and see who was behind the material there are at least 5 marketers that are better than good and sale some good information and are willing to help you all the way. I want say any names, but I found something in one of the programs I was using that I thought would work better and I have seen changes made. They wrote a e-mail making everyone aware of the improvement. I hope no one every gets burned, but I sure they will more than once. It's just like a job you have to learn by experence.

All that junk really does not bother me since I use their copy as a what not to do. There is good in all things with the right sauce.
I promote some things if I feel they are worthwhile.
10K really seems ridiculous when you think about it. Remember it is all in the buzz, and besides I prefer to read all about it all for free and put all the pieces together.
Being upset is OK, But not participating is way more fun.
